Murder of Domestic Worker; Kuwaiti Citizen and Wife Sentenced to Death
The Criminal Court has sentenced a Kuwaiti man and his wife to death for the brutal murder of their Filipino domestic worker. The court found the couple guilty of physically assaulting the maid to death, unlawfully detaining her, denying her access to medical care, and forcing her to work under continuous torture.
According to the Public Prosecution, the victim was subjected to repeated beatings and abuse, which ultimately led to her death. The couple had earlier been detained for 21 days during the investigation and were later transferred to the Central Prison after being officially charged with premeditated murder — a crime that carries the death penalty under Kuwaiti law.
In presenting its case, the Prosecution demanded the harshest possible punishment, emphasizing that the abuse was intentional and sustained. The verdict underscores the seriousness with which the Kuwaiti judiciary addresses cases of violence and abuse against domestic workers.
