Kuwait's Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Center's Space Exhibit announced Sunday that distinctive astronomical events will be visible in Kuwaitآ’s skies throughout September.
In a statement to KUNA, the Exhibit explained that astronomical phenomena include unique events such as eclipses and comets, while events are recurring, like moon phases, meteor showers, and planetary oppositions.
The first major phenomenon will be a total lunar eclipse on Sunday, September 7, visible in its entirety across Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf - the only eclipse of the year and the first since 2018. The Exhibit added that Saturnآ’s opposition on Sunday, September 21 will make the planet particularly bright for several nights, offering clearer views of its details, especially through telescopes.
On Monday, September 22, the autumnal equinox will occur, when the sunآ’s rays strike the equator directly, making day and night equal in length worldwide. Locally, autumn will begin on Saturday, September 27, with sunrise at 5:39 a.m. and sunset at 5:39 p.m.
The Exhibit noted that autumn in Kuwait is relatively short, bringing milder weather and lower temperatures. To mark the season, the Space Exhibit will host a live planetarium show on September 4, recreating these celestial events with precise astronomical calculations.
The public are invited to attend the show and the lunar eclipse observation, with details available on the centerآ’s website and social media channels.
